We would like to welcome the Goldwing Road Riders Association to Wing Ding 32. We’d like to invite all Wing fans to our Indianola shop for some tasty treats and camaraderie.

They are in town for there national convention Wed June 30th thru Saturday July 3rd.  We will be having soft-serve ice cream all day Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  We will also be serving hot dogs and lemonade on Friday and Saturday from 11:30 to 1pm.

Here is the web site for the event. http://www.wing-ding.org/

Our Indianola location is due for a big change this fall as a new facility is currently under construction. This new location is located at the intersection of highway 65/69 and highway 92. We’ve been challenged to make progress during the abnormally cold and wet winter and spring, but now that the sun is shining and things are drying out, we’re making some real headway. Stay tuned for more updates and an opening date as we get closer to completion. Below are some photos of the progress so far:

Live from the Polaris dealer meeting in Las Vegas, we have the latest from Polaris and their plans for the 2011 snowmobile lineup.

We just sat through the meeting kickoff and the announcement of the 2011 lineup.  But before we get to the lineup, let’s pause to talk about something that is on the mind of many Polaris enthusiasts; reliability.  No doubt Polaris has innovated even in the face of a powersports industry that got hammered by a 25% reduction in volume in 2009.  The 2010 Rush is a great example of Polaris being on the gas when others are struggling and coming out with “bold new graphics”.  But the 800 engine has been a concern.  Reliability is not where they want it to be and they are working like crazed dogs to correct it.  Bennet Morgan, COO even spewed some profanity to get the point across.  They aren’t satisfied and the 2010 issue will be corrected and the 2011 product will be ready with over 110,000 miles of testing.

OK, now on to the product lineup.  To no one’s surprise, the 800 Rush is in the lineup for 2011.  The 800 engine has been changed for 2011 with a new fuel injection system and some other tweaks we will be sure to learn more about tomorrow.  According to A.J. Lester, Editor, Supertrax Magazine/SnowTrax Television, “this thing is an all-day-performer.  The 800 is gonna make a lot of guys happy.  The motor is clean, crisp, and fast.  These sleda are so far different from what everyone else is building.  It doesn’t matter where you’re going., what you’re riding through, or who you’re riding with – you’re in control through any kind of terrain.”  Sound like the perfect flatland sled, no?

The other really big news is the new 800 RMK.  Billed as the “lightest, strongest, most durable RMK” ever, the new RMK appears to be one sweet machine on paper.  41 lbs (431 lbs total) lighter than last year, it’s “flickability” makes it the go to mountain sled for 2010/2011.  According to Chris Burandt of Burandt Backcountry Adventrures who has been riding the sled since November, “the RMK Team took every single aspect of what a mountain sled should be and they made this – 40lbs lighter, 300% stiffer.  It’s a suspension guys dream.  It’s like one of the baddest mod sleds I’ve ever ridden and it’s stock.  It’s so cool.  It’s the lightest, fastest, most flickable sleds out there.”

Personally, I think the new Polaris lineup is sick.  While a lot of the snowmobile industry is trying to weather the recession storm, Polaris continues to be on the gas.

Below are some photos of the new sleds and some promo videos from the marketing department at Polaris.  Check them out and let us know what you think of the 2011 lineup in the comments section.

BMW HP2 Megamoto

On the track or the street, there’s never been a supermoto like the awesome new HP2 Megamoto. The street version of the monster HP2 Enduro, the Megamoto is armed with tons of power in the form of a 113 horsepower Boxer motor that spits out 85 pounds-force foot of torque. Every extra detail has been stripped away to create a supermoto machine offering thrilling, out of this world excitement in every gear. With a dry weight of just 393 pounds, low center of gravity, inverted Marzocchi forks, Ohlins rear shock, and plenty of wheel travel in both front and rear suspensions, the HP2 Megamoto’s enjoys sharp, supremely responsive handling. An Akrpovic exhaust adds efficiency, while Brembo brakes assure maximum stopping power. On a supermoto machine with this much raw performance, one thing is for sure: those corners don’t stand a chance. Request more information.

With a staggering 130 horsepower, the HP2 Sport features the most powerful Boxer engine ever designed by BMW Motorrad. For the first time ever, double overhead camshafts are included in our famous opposed twin cylinder motor, kicking out even more revs. Making the HP2 Sport even more track-ready is new Quickshifter technology, which means faster gear changes without having to chop the throttle or use the clutch. Add a fully adjustable Ohlins sport front and rear suspension, Radial mounted Brembo Monobloc brakes, a lightweight carbon fiber aerodynamic fairing, not to mention forged racing wheels and tires and a MotoGP-inspired cockpit that computes lap times and other racing data, and the result is one of the most advanced sport bikes to ever scorch the tarmac. BMW K 1300 GT

Gran Tourismo – or in the case of the BMW K 1300 GT quite simply one of the fastest movers around. It opens up a new era in the timing of long distances. Nonetheless: impressive though the average travel times may be on this machine, its performance is also fascinating at low speeds, for example after a hairpin bend. This is because at engine speeds you operate in more than 80 percent of the time on the road – i.e. the lower and middle ranges – this engine adds something you can feel instantly: 99 pounds force foot from 1,293 cubic centimeters. No ifs or buts. And 160 horsepower for the three-lane motorway. The fact that this in-line 4-cylinder is very low-key when it comes to fuel consumption and exhaust emissions makes fast travel even more pleasing. And it also demonstrates once again how modern engines ought to be built.

The success formula GT is the sum of many intelligent details: top ergonomics – both at front and rear, exemplary aerodynamics and weather protection, safety (ABS as standard, ASC as an option) which sets standards and a level of comfort which enables relaxed, supreme travel. Then there is a high-precision chassis with a low centre of gravity, as well as optional ESA II to adapt the chassis mode at the press of a button. So here’s a tip: Save yourself the effort of looking for an alternative. Get into gear right away.

The BMW K 1300 GT: Dynamic performance has never been more stylish. Request more information.
