Introducing BMW Motorcycles
Van Wall Powersports is pleased to announce the addition of BMW motorcycles to our carefully selected line of powersports brands. The long BMW heritage of engineering and manufacturing excellence is a perfect match for the Van Wall reputation for outstanding customer support. With models ranging from the 650 to 1300, the BMW lineup serves all riders from the beginner-enthusiast to the million-mile touring rider.
In October of 2009, BMW motorcycles will be sold and serviced from our Perry, Iowa location. The Perry location will serve as an interim location for BMW motorcycles. A new location in the Des Moines area is currently under development, and this new location will become the permanent home for BMW motorcycles. We currently project this new location to open in the second half of 2010.
We are very excited to bring such an outstanding brand to the Des Moines market – a market that hasn’t ever had a BMW motorcycle dealer. The Des Moines and central Iowa motorcycle community has proven to be one of enthusiasts with great passion for motorcycling and the freedom of the road. For these riders, BMW motorcycles can now be purchased locally and with the reassurance that Van Wall Powersports will support all of their service and support needs.

This is very exciting news for me. You will have my business in Des Moines as well as my riding friends, 8 of us have 11 BMWs ranging from 1969 to 2009 models. Totally awesome. Thank you. Bob
Thanks for the encouragement. We are very excited as well and look forward to the opportunity to serve the BMW enthusisats in the Des Moines area.
I have nearly that many Motorrad myself. Looking forward to checking out your new store.
Will this shop be a multi brand dealership, or BMW only?
Where will the new shop be located?
Details of the new location are not yet final, but here is what I can pass along so far. The new location will likely be on the west side of Des Moines. We plan to have it operational by this time next year. BMW will be a featured brand and will likely be paired with complementary brand(s). In the meantime, we’ve got a great selection of bikes, a growing inventory of apparel, and a really good BMW trained technician at our Perry location.
Thanks for the reply.
A west side location will be handy.
Once you are fully up and running how many BMW Techs do you plan to have?
We currently have one fully trained BMW tech on staff. He will be moving from the Perry location to the new location when it opens. Beyond that, we are eager to add technicians in response to the demands of the market.
As an owner of two BMW’s, a K1200LT with a Hannigan trike kit and my wife’s F800ST, we are very excited at having a local BMW dealer. BMW is the best engineered and manufacture motorcycle on the market today and with the new Concept 6 engine heading for an updated Long Distance Touring machine the further looks very bright for BMW.
Welcome to the BMW family of Dealerships.

As an owner of nearly 20 BMW Motorrad, I don’t puff about it like the jerks above. Welcome!
Good luck with the new venture. You are incorrect that Des Moines has never had a BMW motorcycle dealership, there was one across from Merle Hay Mall in the late 70’s early 80’s. The owner had the chance between owning the one and only Harley dealership (steered the Harley guys to Zook). The market changed and Harley got popular and BMW fell off the market. Let’s hope they are back to stay in the market.
Yamama, why would any sane person who knows anything at all about motorcycles buy a Hardley? Welcome to the BMW world Van Wall! More the merrier.
